The comet
Impact
The Comet hit the planet of Magalan around 160 years before the events of the game. When it hit, it caused massive devastation and brought with it many mineral, among which was the mysterious substance that would be name Elex. The substance has since become central to the economies of the Abessa, Edan, Ignadon, Tavar and Xacor regions - as well as the factions that rule them.

The impact was so powerful that it managed to immediately destroy everything within a radius of hundreds of kilometers and triggered a powerful shock-wave that scorched most of the surface. Violent tectonic activity and volcanic eruptions were instantly triggered as the Comet inserted Elex and other minerals into the planet. Even as the turmoil settled down, the atmosphere was poisoned by Elex particulates leading to widespread mutation. By the time people began leaving their shelters, things had settled down and they were faced with a dangerous new reality as what plants and animals remained had been mutated in dangerous beings and deposits of the strange substance named Elex began appearing.
It is physically located in a crater due east of the large volcano in Ignadon at the eastern edge of the map, however the area is highly radioactive and you will not be able to get close to it.
